Working with Women Offenders

The aims of this group are:

  • To promote good practice with women offenders and CJSW
  • To keep abreast of information and new developments in the field
  • To support practise initiatives throughout Scotland
  • To improve the knowledge base of workers in the field

In meeting these aims, the WFO group is currently undertaking a number of tasks.  Members have begun collating data on women offenders with a view to profiling and contributing to the debate about what works best for women offenders.

Members are also involved in raising awareness of the needs of women offenders amongst fellow practitioners.  The delivery of roadshows across Scotland has been a significant component of this work.  The feasibility of developing a PQ training programme on working with women offenders is also being investigated.
