Employment/Work/Training

The issue of employment/training in the resettlement of offenders is often reported as a significant issue, and a number of agencies target resources at this.  Actual research on the area does appear to be limited, however.  Websites that may be of interest and provide links to useful literature include:

A report entitled Barriers to employment for offenders and ex-offenders can also be found at the website for the Department of Work and Pensions.  Closer to home, Apex Scotland also hosts a website providing some information on the work they undertake.  Useful information for practitioners and offenders alike can also be found at the Disclosure Scotland website.  There is also a recent article (2006) from the journal of Crime & Delinquency on the impact of formal versus informal work on adolescent problem behaviour that may be of interest.
